Hi, I am Birde. I want you to hear me say this:
-
Our brain is something we can coexist with. It’s not the enemy.
-
I have had to accept that having this mental health condition wasn’t a choice.
-
I ask myself what the alternative is. If I stay in a dark place for too long I will get further away from my reality. I fight to get back to my reality.
-
Stop treating us like we are a problem that needs to be solved. We are who we are and need to be loved and respected.
-
When I published my book: I Am Her, She Is Me. It was the most vulnerable thing I have ever done, but I did it.
-
I lost my dad about a year ago. He was my entire world.
-
My mind is so creative. It’s constantly coming up with new ways to show the world who I am beyond a diagnosis
-
I wish people would ask me how it feels to live with a mental health condition. It’s not always a hard thing to do.
That I’m not always sad or happy. I live a pretty stable life. I can live just like anyone else.
