Hi, I am Amy, I want you to hear me say this:

  • Autism, ADHD, c-PTSD and DID.

  • That I have spent my entire life hating myself while giving everything I had left to everyone else.

  • That a lifetime of mental illness, and trauma has had physical effects and now my physical body is unwell as well which compounds my mental health struggles.

  • Deep rest and radical acceptance that this is what it is but it will pass.

  • Focusing on capitalism over community.

  • When I stood up to a government department and demanded fair treatment.

  • Not being able to be the parent I wanted to be.

  • My deep empathy, while it causes me a lot of pain it also makes me who I am.

  • People assume I’m stronger than I am. While I am strong it’s only because I’ve had no choice.

  • The media portrayal of DID is so very different to my experience. Like many things- it’s a spectrum.

  • Preventing trauma is much easier than recovering from it. Living with mental illness and neurodivergence causes trauma because society is not built for us but it doesn’t have to be that way.

We have become so disconnected from each other, communities and villages are hard to find. We live in a world where we don’t need a village to physically survive but mentally and emotionally we still do.
